Hi Carolyn,
Thanks for your comment. Imagine getting half a dozen eggs during a 12 degree deep freeze! Good luck finding the sexed bantam chicks. I know most places don't have them, but a few places do. Hope it works out for you!

Hi, everyone. Sadly, our 11 yr old rabbit died and I also lost one of my bantam roosters. I don't know why, but he wouldn't eat and I put him in a nesting box and the next day he was gone. The rest are healthy and happy and are doing remarkable in our 12 degree deep freeze! I got a half dozen eggs this week! Who would think they would lay in this cold weather! I am thinking about adding some layers to my flock this spring. I will be re-reading Minnie Rose's book on that topic! I am having a hard time finding sexed bantam chicks. Most hatcheries only do straight run in bantam chicks, so I might have to purchase them locally if I can find anyone in New Jersey that sells bantam hens!

Hi Carolyn,
Thanks! So glad you'll be trying Marcia's advice. And that's one main purpose for this blog--to connect chicken raisers with each other. Please let us know if Marcia's advice works for you. Also, I love your story about the pumpkin half!
